We only write to businesses
We don't write to the public. Every email goes to a business, at the address that business has published on its own website, and it's about something related to what that business does. We read each site before we write, and if a site says it doesn't want unsolicited email we don't write to it.
Where the addresses come from
We find each address on the business's own website at the time we write. We don't buy lists, we don't sell them and we never hand over a list of addresses to anyone.
Every email says who it's from
Each email names the business it was sent for and how to reach them. Emails about Curlew itself come from one of our reps and carry Local Marketing Group's ABN in the signature. Our own reps write from a short list of domains that you can check on got an email from us?, and an email we write for a client comes from a domain close to that client's business name.
Anyone can opt out
Every email can be stopped by replying "no thanks", and once a business asks us to stop we stop writing to it for that client. If you'd rather not hear from us about any business at all, email support@curlew.com.au with your address and we'll make a note of it. The Spam Act gives a sender five working days to act on an unsubscribe request.
We keep the volume sensible
Each client's mailbox starts at about 10 emails a day and builds to no more than 50 a day, Monday to Friday, over four to five weeks. We write one business at a time, not in bulk blasts.
Questions or complaints
If you have a question about an email we sent, or you think we got something wrong, write to support@curlew.com.au and someone from our team will get back to you. Our privacy policy explains what we keep and why, and our guide to whether cold emailing is legal in Australia covers the rules in more detail. You can also read the rules from the regulator at ACMA.
